Memory Supplants
This memory supplant is the least invasive, and hardest to remove. It is very simple, really. Suddenly, all your previous friends are erased, and someone else is added. They’ve been your best friend forever, you know almost everything about them, you can recall touching memories you’ve spent together. You will naturally want to spend lots of time with them. FAMILY This memory supplant is the most common, but it’s also relatively simple. Previous memories of your old family have been erased, and replaced with new memories. Everyone remembers parents born in Harmony, complete with names and back stories. They’re either dead or away from town indefinitely. However, your new brother or sister will be in town with you. It’s up to you what relationship you have with your sibling; Perhaps you’re rivals, or maybe you’re glued at the hip. Whatever it is, you still are family, and family has to stick together. If you have a very close bond to your old siblings, this memory supplant is very difficult for you. You’ll start projecting personality traits from your old sibling on your new one, which is very confusing and troubling for both of you. If it gets too obvious that the supplant is failing, though, you’ll be in big trouble. MARRIAGE This supplant tends to be rare, as it’s the hardest to achieve. It’s your choice if you are engaged or married. You’re more likely to get this supplant if you didn’t have a significant other in your old life, because so many layers of attachment are terribly difficult to conceal. With this supplant, you’re constantly fighting yourself. After all, you’re deeply in love and complete strangers at the same time. If you have this supplant, you’ll probably be living with your new significant other. You should want to spend lots of time together, and do things that couples do, of course. Including going out on dates, planning the wedding (if you aren’t already married, of course), and enjoying the marital bed. This supplant is the most difficult to create, and because of this, many reinforcements are put in place to keep it from collapsing. ENEMY This supplant is reverse of many of the others. This will generally take little effort to achieve, because it takes less energy to dislike than it does to love. It's easy to add-on after you already have a supplant, and because of this, it's very likely to be a secondary supplant. For this reason, it can be onesided. If your character has this supplant, they will find themselves completely disgusted by the character they are supplanted against. Depending on their personality, they may react with their dislike differently, from casually insulting or full out sabotaging others. However, if you have this supplant, please be careful to talk everything over with your fellow player. We want to make sure that players don't get angry at each other or personalize things. This supplant is very easy to create and very easy to maintain. Those with this supplant are not likely to question their dislike in the least, and will feed off of their own anger. EX-LOVER This supplant is also quite different from the first three. It is also quite difficult, because it requires memories of a relationship to be planted. Memories often start out wonderful, and then dissolve. There is always a reason that these characters have separated (at least, there is a memory of a reason). This supplant is very important to keep communication between players. You need to agree on back story, and it might be a good idea to arrange past memories and ideas beforehand. It is up to you if the split was amicable or bitter, and if they react to each other angrily or happily. The ex supplant is difficult to create, and therefore, like the marriage supplant it has many layers of precautions set in place. It is not easy to break out of the mold. INFATUATION This supplant is very similiar to the Marriage supplant, but there are some key differences to be noted. In the Marriage supplant, there is a certain amount of time that has passed, and definitely a certain amount of commitment. In the infatuation supplant, things are not so heavy and detailed. This supplant is in the throes of romance, where all you can think about is the other person. Almost a puppy love. This is also geared toward the sexual side of things. If your character has this supplant with another, they will be verging on obsessed with the other, talking of them constantly, thinking about them all the time. The infatuation supplant is often times geared to be onesided, and can be easily added on. Because of this, it is often used as a secondary supplant. Also, your married character can, and will, get the infatuation supplant with a character that is not their spouse. It is important to remember that the characters at this point cannot control their thoughts, and not to take a characters' betrayal personally. This supplant is flighty and heated in nature, and for that reason it is easy to add and hard to remove. However, unlike some others, it does fade, just like it does in real life. |
