I love this time of year.
I don't think there are many that truly hate it, but I don't know. There's something about this time of year, the overwhelming optimism. The love exchanged from person to person, the charity and the well wishing... It always makes me happy, just to be able to witness it.
Maybe that's a little sappy...
Anyway. I don't think my mother and I are doing much this year. My aunt is throwing a small get-together for relatives, so I think I'll be attending that. It depends on what mom wants to do. She has to work that night, so I don't know if she'll have the energy.
I hope she does. Maybe I'll go alone, if she doesn't... I don't want to be selfish, but I don't want to be stuck alone for Christmas.
My cousin Elle decorated her tree -- or at least started on it -- which inspired me to set up ours. I had to drag it up from the basement, and ... well, to be honest, we didn't have it up last year, so I had to dust it. And untangle the lights and ribbon. But I think it was worth it, to get it set up. It sets the mood for the holiday, and we didn't have any Christmas deorations up, otherwise...

It's a little plain, but it makes me happy to look at it. Even if it's made of plastic and still a little dusty! Oh well. It looks like snow? Sort of? Not that you can really tell, considering the tree itself is white... I know that's not the normal tree color, but ... um. It was on sale five years ago, when my mother bought it.
Even better than Christmas, somebody is getting married! I love weddings, too, I don't know why. I think I'm going to go. How romantic, to get married on the last day of the year. To start your new life together the day the year changes! Hopefully nobody will remember my birthday, because somebody is getting married. That's much more important than a birthday. Uhm ... Ms. Berry? Is there a color scheme you wanted us to follow? Is this white tie or black tie? I thought I would ask...
I've been working my fingers to the bone (not literally) trying to make gifts for everyone. I don't have a lot of spare money, so I usually have to make gifts. Hopefully everyone will like what I was able to make for them. Uhm. I guess I'll know come Christmas, right?
What is everyone doing for the Holidays? I'm curious.

I'm in an "I hate Christmas" mood (Thank you, Wal-mart customers) so I'm trying to wake up my Christmas spirit, hence all of the Christmas themed journals.
Astrik, I would like to talk to you about Emma's journal, so if you could catch me when you're around, I'd appreciate it.
I think that's all for now. I'm tired and moody and will try to work on journal tags tonight but thread tags are gonna be delayed at least another day.
I also want to apologize for ignoring journals lately. I've been so out of it every day after work that I've just been... yeah. Two more days and I get three wonderful days off.

I noticed some travel books laying on the coffee table the other day. It looks like the Gilmores are planning a vacation again. Would it be too much to hope that it's over Christmas? That'll be about as holly jolly as it gets.
When I do actually find out when their vacation is, I fully intend to throw a party. I'll let you know an exact date soon, but this must be handled delicately. If my parents suspect that I'm planning something, they'll probably do something awful like cancel their trip.

I'm not really looking forward to Christmas, but those who know me know this is really nothing new. That's because nothing new ever happens. It's the same thing every year. My parents invite a bunch of people over for Christmas dinner, then when everyone has gone they shower me with expensive gifts and focus all of their attention on me. Some people might think this is a good thing, but trust me--as someone who has lived with it for seventeen years, it's not. Really.

Oh, Winter break! So close, yet so far away. The kids in our classes are getting antsy, I can tell- but when one walks into the teachers' lounge, there's the same feeling.
A feeling of an almost electric charge, as the days draw closer and closer to that "Most wonderful time of the year". Though Harmony High has a no-hats portion in the dresscode [though this is largely overlooked], we're expecting to see a lot of Santa hats on Friday, as well as a lot of missing children and teachers.
In fact, the teacher I'm assigned under- Mrs. Squire- will be absent. I get the class all to myself. Insert evil-sounding laughter here. As such, being the nice person I am, I bought candycanes for the five periods of that class [and will likely have surplus], and am very prepared to play Hangman on the whiteboard all day.
Speaking of playing. Sylar, Ema, and anyone interested in the Monopoly War: I propose we have it the Friday school lets out, in preparation for Christmas and, hopefully, Sylar and Nyota's wedding. What better way to relax and hang out than a super-competitive game of Monolopy?
On an off note, I've taught Turret to whistle Christmas carols by simply having them stuck in my own head. Now he won't stop.

My thirteenth entry. Superstition dictates that thirteen is an unlucky number, but I suppose we'll just have to see.
Unsurprisingly, I have very little on my life with which to update all of you. It should not be news to anyone that I'm fairly uninteresting. Then again, I never claimed to be. I do hope that nobody had that expectation, because it would be terrible to disappoint. Then again, I can't really feel guilty when it has little to nothing to do with me, more your own misinformed expectations.
I recently, at Nyota's request, spent plenty of hours repainting our living room. I am the first to admit that my style is quintessential 'bachelor', with leather and dark wood to spare. And because I wanted to make her feel a little more comfortable, I suggested we change around some of the decor.
I believe the intention is to bring in some of her furniture and lighten the paint. I think that will make a drastic difference.

I hope that everyone is free on the New Year. Considering we missed our last date, Nyota and I intend to try and get things together to get married on New Year. Quite festive, I'd say, to finally get married on the first day of a new year. Invitations will be sent out quite shortly, but I don't think Nyota would object to me inviting anyone on these boards who would like to attend.
However, as to clothing choices, you'll have to ask her. I'm afraid I'm not aware what plans she has already set together.
It seems as if this year has flown by quite quickly, hasn't it? Blink and you'll miss it, so to speak.
It hasn't been a bad year, I suppose. I can't complain.
How is everyone doing? I'm afraid I must break the trend of posting images -- I'm not sure I have any more to share.
And I do believe that there is a Monopoly competition that never was truly realized. We should see about getting that together, Glad.

I'm going to inspire a change of pace by not just posting a bunch of pictures. I'm going to include a regular entry, too. You're welcome.
I think anybody with eyes noticed that the snow has finally arrived. I can only hope that this is as much as we'll get, but my mom is bemoaning the fact that we could get a foot over the weekend. Everybody knows I hate the cold, right? Yeah. I absolutely despise it. As in I wear two sweaters indoors this time of year. So essentially, I'm in a bitter frozen hell right now.
It doesn't help that my car has decided it wants to stop running forever. I tried to start it yesterday and the engine made a sound like a cat dying. Well, to say the least, something is wrong with the engine. It's in the shop right now, but it sounds like it'll cost more to fix it than the car is actually worth.
So I'm without a way to get around. My mother gave me a bus card and told me to wear a hat. Gee, thanks, mom. That's so helpful...
Shizuka, I might have to take you up on that 'I'll drive you places' offer. Otherwise I'm really going to freeze to death, I have no doubt.

While I completely hate this weather, I think Isono is in some kind of dog heaven. I'm kind of worried he's going to freeze to death, but he always wants to be out in the yard, chasing snowflakes and bouncing around in the snow. He's obviously more puppy than anything else, despite his massive size. I usually go out with him, despite my severe intolerance for cold. I couldn't tell you why it makes him so happy, but I'm glad someone is enjoying the weather.
School is little more than torture this semester. Not because it's difficult -- it's just boring. I'm taking AP Government, History, and Statistics. I've already finished both AP English (that was a walk in the park) and Calculus. So, if I did my math right, that should be all of them. It's a little unnecessary to get all these AP classes done before Senior year, some people tell me, but I don't see why not.
I don't see why they get the reputation for being difficult. They're not difficult, per se, just have a lot of homework and writing involved.
Then again, I'm ahead with all my schoolwork. Call me a nerd if you must, but I like getting stuff done early so I can proceed to slack off.
And now that I'm done complaining about the cold, my car, and school, here are some pictures. Just a couple, though.

Okay, guys. I come bringing information about two different upcoming plots! PLEASE not only read, but make comments and give input! I don't ask unless I want it!
For starters:
Recently, Ilene and I have been discussing the general frustration that can result in the one step forward, two steps back approach to memories. The second a character gains an inch, they have it taken away in a couple of weeks. In short, it is very frustrating to those who want to have a character regain memories.
Also, we were faced with a conundrum -- nobody has gotten close to completely regaining memories in game yet. But if they were? What would happen then?
Well, we are attempting to find a solution. And we're telling you right now -- there may be kinks in this process that we've got to work out. That's why we're going to have a trial-run with a couple of characters to see how well it works.
Hopefully you want more information! I'll put it under a cut so you don't have to see my tl;dr on the friends-page. But you still have to read it.

So. Reading that information, I hope everyone has a character or two in mind, and ideas of what they'd like to do. You're supposed to! If you are interested, I bet you remember that we said we would be starting a 'trial run'. Well, guess what that means?
We need volunteers!
For this point in time, you can only apply for this class of characters with one of your characters. We have a set amount we need, so first applications finalized are in. Essentially, each and every character is going to require discussion with either me or Ilene, or both of us. We will have to agree on a character before they are permitted, as we do with applications. So anticipate some give-and-take in this application process.
To speed up this process, any character that is applying will get a 'trigger' that will make their memories return much more quickly than normal. Please note that this will not be under the Doctor's direction and this first return of memories is more of a malfunction. After a plot in late January, things will be 'normalized' -- as in, Characters will have canon memories and not remember the confusion of having two sets of memories -- and that is when the trial will truly begin.
If you want to apply, we need a few things from you. Mainly, a document detailing these things:
Character getting Memories
Why you think they should get memories/plots and ideas involving memories
What memories would they be getting (you must be VERY specific, as if we think something doesn't fit in their memories we WILL be going back to these documents. As in, you CANNOT introduce something without it being on this document or addressed to a mod first)
What will your character's trigger be?
What Harmony-memories will your character retain?
What supplants/relationships will your character retain?
What occupation will your character have/
Ilene and I would like to start on these triggers before January, meaning, you should get your application in as soon as possible!
Lastly! The second plot I mentioned!
I can't reveal much yet, but to give you a bit of information:
- It will be a ton of fun!
- It will reveal some 'behind the scenes' information about watchers and the experiment!
- It will be set at a Murder Mystery party, hosted by Cymoril and Wesker!
- It will last a couple of RP days, but because of the intensity of activity, we're going to have a week of RL time set aside for it!
- THERE WILL BE (temporary) CHARACTER DEATHS.
Ilene and I have been working hard on this, outlining what we want to see and who might be involved, and we do have some parts for players to play! However, we want to know interest for the event.
Essentially: Who will be interested in participating? What characters will they be bringing? And what time in January will be best for you?
Okay. I realize this is a lot to read, but I still need comments and concerns addressed on BOTH subjects.

Where did the time go?
Gosh, it seems like last week was summer. Now the wind's caught a chill and the bar crowd isn't so busy. I might be switching shifts, which is a bang up way to ring in the new year. I guess.
More people have been hired for permanence, since two bartenders was getting a little taxing. They're thinking about maybe getting another DJ to alternate, too.
Not much has been up with me, personally. Just working, and I've started to volunteer at the theater. It's nice to be back around the stage. :3

I still haven't started my Christmas shopping yet, but I am determined that this year I'm not going to wait until the last minute! My friends from work are easy to shop for because they're all geeks who obsess way too much over video games. Mum's getting some of those fancy scented candles she likes, Dad gets a gift certificate so he can buy some new DVD's, and Granddad has demanded that I help him complete his collection of MASH DVD's.
Now I just have to go out into the cold and actually buy everything. Or I could be lazy and order online, but I figured I might as well get out and be social.
Anyone else want a Christmas gift while I'm at it? Or are there any brave volunteers who'd like to keep this handsome fellow company while he shops?
